Jammu, January 17 – The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora, is scheduled to become operational by November 2025, according to Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. During a recent high-level meeting with stakeholders, Dulloo reviewed the progress of this critical healthcare project. The upcoming medical facility will transform healthcare access in the region.

  • Water Supply Scheme (WSS) : The Jal Shakti Department was directed to complete the first phase of the water supply system, including three bore wells, by May 2025. This will ensure a steady water supply for the hospital’s operations.
  • Road Connectivity: Dulloo reviewed the status of approach roads leading to the institute and instructed departments to address any gaps promptly.

Dr. Mohanty reported that AIIMS Awantipora has achieved 61% overall physical progress, with work underway on 57 blocks. The institute comprises:

  • Ayush block, guest house, and night shelter

Despite cold weather reducing on-site labor from 2,400 to 850 workers, internal construction activities continue. With improved weather conditions, the workforce will be increased to accelerate progress.
