Patient Care Disrupted Amid Ongoing Strike
Hundreds of patients who visited the Out-Patient Department (OPD) seeking consultations were forced to return without treatment as emergency, OPD, and several other hospital services remained shut. The strike has placed a significant burden on healthcare delivery, leaving many in urgent need of medical attention without proper access to doctors.
Resident Doctors Hold Emergency Meeting
The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) convened a general body meeting on Sunday evening to decide the next course of action. Despite attempts to resolve the deadlock, including a meeting between RDA representatives and senior hospital officials on Saturday, the doctors have not yet called off their protest.
Demands for Transparency and Justice
During Saturday’s meeting, the administration gave assurances to the doctors. The RDA issued a statement emphasizing the need for full transparency and accountability, calling for the immediate release of CCTV footage related to the incident involving the MLA.
“The release of CCTV footage is crucial to ensure truth prevails and justice is served,” the RDA stated.
The association also demanded full institutional legal assistance for resident doctors and security personnel who they claim have been falsely implicated in the case.
Hospital Administration Promises Security Measures
The hospital administration assured the doctors that it would initiate the installation of CCTV cameras in high-risk areas, including the trauma centre, emergency department, labour room, and ICUs, within 72 hours.
In addition, the RDA has demanded the immediate quashing of what it calls a “false FIR” lodged against a resident doctor by MLA Chetan Anand.
Uncertain End to the Standoff
While negotiations are ongoing, the AIIMS-Patna doctors’ strike continues to impact thousands of patients daily. With both sides holding firm, it remains unclear when normal healthcare services will resume.
Conclusion
The ongoing AIIMS-Patna doctors’ strike highlights growing tensions between healthcare professionals and political figures. Until demands for transparency, legal protection, and security measures are addressed, hospital services will remain disrupted, affecting thousands of patients. Urgent resolution is essential to restore trust and ensure uninterrupted medical care in the region.
